Meet Oral Surgeon Dr. Younce

Dr. Younce has practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery since 1991 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 1995, he began practicing in Boise, when he and his family returned to the West after spending 10 years in school and training on the east coast. Prior to settling in Idaho Dr. Younce practiced at very busy hospitals in Staten Island, New York; Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C.; and Newark, New Jersey, where he completed his residency.

Attending both the United States Air Force Academy and the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Younce earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at these schools his achievements earned him placement on the Dean’s List, Commandant’s List, and the Superintendent’s List.
Upon graduation in 1983 Dr. Younce worked as an engineer in the nuclear power industry.

Dr. Younce began dental school in 1987 at the Medical College of Georgia. During this time he earned several scholarships, honors, and awards including the Dean’s List, Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society for academic achievement, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons award for outstanding achievement in undergraduate study and clinical training, the Physician’s Desk Reference Book Award from the department of Oral Biology and Pharmacology, and an award from the Georgia Society of Pediatric Dentists.

Immediately upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Younce began his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency. This took him to Newark, New Jersey, for four intensive years working in a Level I trauma center. In addition to his training, Dr. Younce has been a guest lecturer at several oral surgery meetings and has authored several publications.

During his free time, Dr. Younce enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife, Julie, and their children, Christina and Mark. With a passion for physical activities, Dr. Younce is often engaged in recreations such as upland bird hunting, backpacking, flying radio controlled airplanes, and playing ice hockey.

Dr. Younce is on the staff of the St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Meridian. In addition, Dr. Younce is a member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the Idaho Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Idaho Dental Association, and the Southwest Idaho Dental District Society.
